Get Started with Databricks: End to End

Before you build, get comfortable with the platform. This hands-on session walks you through Databricks end-to-end, from navigating the workspace to a first look at AI/ML.
No prior Databricks experience needed. Every module pairs a demo with a lab. All DAISI Challenge registrants will be automatically enrolled.
Can’t make it? You can watch other public sessions. Note that public sessions do not include the hands-on element.

Who can join?+
Students from Singapore's Institutes of Higher Learning, including undergraduates and polytechnic students. Teams can have 1 to 4 students. Register during the launch window.
How much does it cost?+
Nothing. Everyone builds on Databricks Free Edition. No cost, no credit card.
Do I need prior Databricks experience?+
No. There is a training session in the week of 21 Sep, and shortlisted teams are paired with a Databricks mentor for the build sprint.
What data do we use?+
Open problem statements paired with Singapore's national open data. You may bring additional public datasets if you cite them.
What do we submit in Round 1?+
A 1-page concept or a 3-slide pitch, due 6 Oct. Ten teams are announced on 9 Oct and move into the build sprint.
What happens at the finale?+
The winning team presents at the new Databricks Singapore office launch on 4 Nov to APJ leadership and Singapore government officials. All top 10 teams are invited.
